Directing

My first taste of directing was by happy accident. I had planned to leave Los Angeles City College in 2006 after I had graduated with my Associates degree. However, my instructor-mentor, Leslie Ferreira, encouraged me to stick around at least one more semester to take his Directing class in the fall. I couldn’t be happier that I did.

Since then I’ve directed classics, new work, musicals, Shakespeare, devised pieces, and everything in between—all while earning my M.F.A. in Theatre Directing from Baylor University. During my time in academia at Southern Arkansas University and now Iowa State University, I have continued my explorations in making meaningful, impactful, beautiful theatre with a cadre of student artists who make my job worthwhile.
