Cabaret

Cabaret is one of my favorites. I’ve been lucky enough to both act in it in Los Angeles, and direct it in Prescott. One of the most potent ideas I got to implement in this production was having a large sign downstage with the inviting ‘Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome’ motto of the Kit Kat Klub inscribed on it. In the final moments of the show, it was lit from behind, revealing that that structure of the sign was actually a replica of the Auschwitz sign – ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ – lurking just behind the façade the whole time.
