Back in 2007, I got a chance to be on the “other side of the table” when I was asked to produce a fundraiser gala for the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy’s Alumni Association at the Alex Theatre in Pasadena. Little did I know when I signed on that it was going to be Two’s Company: An Evening of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. I was so fortunate to get to make this evening happen, utilizing the talent of these incredible performers like Matthew Ashford, Christina Saffran Ashford, David Burnham, Patrick Cassidy, Kirsten Benton Chandler, Raymond del Barrio, Kevin Earley, Juliana Hansen, Kim Huber, Gregory Jbara, Chad Kimball, Beth Malone, Michelle Nicastro, Valarie Pettiford, Linda Purl, Alice Ripley, Julie Reiber, Emily Rozek, Rex Smith, Kevin Spirtas, Alet Taylor, Andy Taylor, Bruce Vilanch and Jennifer Leigh Warren.
Since then, my job as a producer has been just as fruitful as my role as a director. I’ve always leaned toward the production of new work – as part of the Festival of New American Musicals, Little Black Dress INK’s ONSTAGE Project, and my own Theatrics Theatre. Here are some of the projects I’ve been honored to help bring to life:
The First Nudie Musical (2009)
Dirty Laundry Female Playwrights Festival (2011)
thrifTheatre New Play Festival (2012)
From the Mouths of Babes Female Playwrights Festival (2013)
Pet Plays New Play Festival (2013)
Planting the Seed Female Playwrights Festival (2014)
